Been Gone Too Long...

Wow, I haven't written anything in this blog in forever, but quite a bit has happened so I thought I would update some info.

My little bro got married two weekends ago and just got back from his honeymoon last Sunday. I got to be his best man and make another toast. I was so excited to make one this time as opposed to a nervous wreck when I gave Ryan's. (sorry Ryan, yours was like a trial run by accident) It was a Wonderful day! We all had so much fun and it couldn't have been better! It was a little bittersweet seeing my little bro getting married. Of course I was happy for him but now he's all moved out and stuff and it kinda sucks not being able to see him everyday. I guess I didn't know how close we we're until he moved out for good. I know he went away to college every few months but I knew he'd be back for holidays and vacations, but now he's GONE from home forever. It's just weird I guess.

Anyway, enough about that, on to some other good news.

I GOT A NEW JOB!!! Finally I know. I had been applying to everything and all jobs related in anyway to my dream career of IT support and a few days before Brandon's wedding I got a call for an interview. I was so happy to hear back for anything and didn't care how unrelated to my wants the job was so of course I set a schedule for it. I was surprised how not nervous I was. I interviewed much better than I thought I would and they told me they would contact me as soon as they could. The next morning they called and set up a second interview. I knew I had the job, I don't know why, but I just knew it. Sure enough the next interview was nothing more than a solid job offer and I nearly jumped out of my seat when they told me, but I kept my cool.

So yesterday was my first day with them and it went quite well. I am so much more excited about it now that i know what the job entails. It is perfect for me. It will be a challenge but that's exactly what I wanted it to be. I will learn a lot from this and have already been able to bring some of the things I learned in school to the job, and it was only my second day!

I want to thank everyone for praying for me to get a great job. (there's a lot of you i know!) God waited for the perfect opportunity and it paid big time. I can't think of anything I rather do than this job.

Well that's all for now. I'll try to get into the blog more often if there's enough to write about. Ciao!!!

Welcome Year 2009...

So it's a new year, and I don't feel different, just like when it's my birthday. What will 2009 bring for all of us? In a few weeks America will welcome it's first black President. My aunt will have her second baby and first girl. I'll be turning 25 in July (wow a quarter century old!) and will finally be able to move out of my parents house, thank goodness. My brother will be getting married in September. I'm sure I forgot something, but it's a new year and I don't have any important resolutions to fulfill so i wish everyone a Happy New Year and goodluck in 09'!!!!!!

A+ Certification...

I passed my final test for my A+ Certification today! There are two tests total, an A+ Essentials test and a designation test out of three options; IT Tech, Help Desk or Depot Repair. I opted for IT Tech and took the tests, one last week and one today and that awards me with an A+ Certification! Woot!! Now only 4 more tests to go... :(

Wow that's the first A+ I've ever received..... huh...

Woo Hoo!!!...

As some of you know, my dad was diagnosed with melanoma a few months back and had to have a decent chunk of flesh and skin removed from his leg. He healed up fine but there was still the chance that the cancer could return internally. So about a month ago, he had a full body PET scan to check for any remnants of cancer. Well I'm happy to say that this morning the results came back 100% negative! Of course the doctors are keeping a close watch, but for now, the cancer is in full remission!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and God Bless! Ciao!...

Beautiful Philadelphia...

This past weekend was Messiah College's annual parents weekend. We've all been there, done that over the last three years because Brandon is a senior. So instead we drove to Philly and Brandon took the train in to meet us there.

I've always heard about how nice Philly is and everything, and I just thought "Yeah, yeah, its just another big city like New York or Boston". Wow was I wrong. Philadelphia was gorgeous. Maybe it was the knowledge that this was really were America started, or whatever but it was just really cool. We got to see all kinds of stuff and still didn't get to see everything we wanted.

We left for Philly on Friday evening at around 6 PM. We got to the train station just as Brandon arrived and went to the hotel around 11 PM. OK so Friday is done.

Saturday morning we woke up at about 8 AM and went UP a few floors for breakfast. (yeah I know weird right? up not down.) They had a great layout for breakfast, they even had bagels and lox, which I had both days. Then we started off toward The Liberty Bell and Liberty Hall areas of Philly. You see both in pictures hundreds of times before, but of course its something else when you get to see them in person.

It was rather awe-inspiring to be in the same two rooms where The Declaration Of Independence and The United States Constitution were both signed so long ago. What what really took us by surprise is how little we knew about the real dates of the signings and authoring of those two documents. Now I know The Declaration Of Independence wasn't signed until Aug 2, 1776, instead of July 4th like most people think. (of course Nick (both smart and Fus) probably knew that already...) The Liberty Bell display hall was really awesome too.

Then we went to lunch at the place EVERYONE told us we had to go to for the best Cheese Steak sandwiches: Jim's Steaks. MMMMMMMMM, it was so good. We ended up waiting about 45 min. just to order but it was well worth the wait. I have never had a steak sandwich even close to that good before.

We were tired enough by then (it was about 5 PM) to take a nap so we headed back to the hotel and slept for an hour or two. We headed out for dinner around 8 and that was pretty much Saturday.

Sunday morning was the same 8 AM wake up and eat. (lox and bagels again mmmmm) We went straight for the Philadelphia Museum Of Art because we needed all the time we could get to see what we wanted to before Brandon's 3 PM train back to Messiah. This was an amazing art museum. There are are over 225,000 pieces in this museum! I've never seen Monet's and Picasso's before this so it was quite a treat. There were also Pollocks, Mondrian's, Van Gogh's and many other famous artists' works. We headed back to the hotel, saw off Brandon and headed home ourselves. It was really a weekend to remember...

Ciao and thanks for reading...

Roadkill...

So I hit a squirrel today on the way to school. It was jumping all over the road in my lane and I was not about to swerve and lose control of my car, (again, but that's another story...) just to save the life of a stupid little rodent. So I kept driving and felt a tiny little bump...

Other than that, today was pretty normal.

Ciao!

T-minus 365 Days...

Until my "little" brother Brandon, gets married! I can't believe it; I mean don't get me wrong, I couldn't be happier for him its just that he's my younger brother and he's the first out of 14 (with more on the way) of us in this generation of our family to get married. There are three of us that are older than him and we don't really even have any "significant others".

The coolest part is that he asked me to be his Best Man! This will be the second time I get to be a Best Man. This past April 19th I was my best friend Ryan's Best Man. I was really nervous about giving a speech and all and sort of had a minor panic attack, but shook it off and delivered, what most people told me later, was a really good speech. It was a great experience and although I'll be a little nervous for my brother's wedding, I now know I can get through it, no problem.

Well the count down till the day has finally begun now and we're all anticipating a great time. I can't wait for it. For more indepth info and updates go to Brandon or Christine's Facebook profiles.

Ciao till next time...
